Read it: Acts 2:42-47
Live it:
We are picking up right where Pastor Rafael left off in Acts 2! Many of us know this passage about the early church. I myself have listened to more teachings on these verses than I can possibly remember. Those teachings boil down to two questions:
- How did the early church live?
- How can we, the modern church, emulate those principles today?
The first question is fairly simple to answer. They lived in community with one another. Each principle we see is tied directly to community, to being united in all things.
The second question is a little less simple. The modern day church is just a bit larger than the few thousand in Acts. We have so many different churches, different schedules, and different walks of life. How can we find community and unity as the church?
By being a day-to-day church!
The early church was not just worship and a sermon on Sunday; it was day-to-day living with your closest friends!
Eating together, laughing together, crying together, and praising together is how we can live out who the early church was. Texting a friend a Bible verse with a cheesy background is literally living out Acts 2:42-47!
As you read this passage, ask yourself what you need to change in your day-to-day church? Maybe you need to start your day-to-day church. The church of Acts is not a past relic. It is alive and well today!
