Day 3: The choice of two masters

Day 3: The choice of two masters

Read it: Matthew 6:24 & Proverbs 3:9-10 & Deuteronomy 6:4-6

Live it:

Today’s scriptures challenge us to love God with our whole being and with all we possess. It’s easy to say we love God, but do our actions match our words, especially when it comes to our finances? We need to check ourselves and see who we have on the throne: God or money– because we can’t serve both.

I remember when we, as a young family, started giving our tithe (one-tenth of our income) and offerings to God. I didn’t know how we were going to make ends meet at the end of the month. I trusted God could make our 90 percent stretch, and He did. When we went through six months of unemployment, God miraculously provided everything we needed. During that stressful time, we reaped the benefit of Proverbs 3:10 because we had been living Proverbs 3:9.

How tightly are you holding on to your money and possessions? God is calling us to open our hands and our hearts and put him back on the throne today. When we choose to live generously, it comes back to us in so many ways beyond finances. Will you choose to be generous today?
