Day 5: Bride of Christ

Read it: Ephesians 5:25-29, 2 Corinthians 11:2-4, Revelation 19:7-9, Revelation 21:1-4

Live it:

When we talk about the bride of Christ, it is hard to understand the distinctive name and attribute given to us by God’s word.

I love what Ephesians 5:25-26 says, “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.”

This awesome comparison sheds light to the love God has for his people. Over and over again, we are reminded that his love–not our works– saved us. As a husband, this makes sense to me because I want nothing but the best for my wife, but as a husband I fail. This is a great reminder that God’s word never fails, and God’s love is what makes us be without any other blemish.

“He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.”

Let’s rejoice that as Christ’s bride we are without blemish because He chose us, and He will continue to guide us until the final feast.
