Day 6 David (Purity)

Read it: 2 Samuel 11 & 12
Live it:

In our reading for today, we look at David and the story of his biggest moral failure. Most of the time when we think of David, a few things come to mind. We think about him defeating Goliath, reigning as a king, or being called a man after God’s own heart. However, when you read this part of David’s life, it is hard to look at him as anything other than an adulterer.

Many people find themselves in a similar place to David. It seems that sexual sin and pornography have a grip on more people than ever before. We need to look at the second half of our scripture to understand what we can do. Nathan, as any good friend would, called David out on his actions. My first encouragement to you is for you to find Godly friends so they may help hold you accountable. After this David confessed his sin to Nathan and God. The Bible says if we confess our sins to God, he is just and faithful to forgive us (1 John 1:9), The Bible also says that we should confess our sins to each other so we can pray for one another (James 5:16). So I encourage you to find someone like Nathan in your life.

My second encouragement is this: Even though David had this giant moral failure, he is still known as a man after God’s own heart. We are all human, and we will all fall short of the glory of God. But Jesus died for us and redeems us. You are still a child of God when you mess up.
