There is a saying around Focus Church that we want you to serve out of celebration not obligation. Serving together in church is the best way to grow in the Lord and grow in relationships with others. And have fun at the same time!
As you read through the scriptures today, you will see God’s plan for the church, also known as the body of Christ. We are not talking about a building; we are talking about all believers. Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are qualified to serve.
I didn’t grow up going to church and was an adult when I came to the Lord. I had so much to catch up on and felt unqualified to serve in any capacity, but I was willing to learn. And learn I did as opportunities opened up year after year.
Looking back, I can trace my path from the baby steps of serving in the toddler nursery to teaching various levels of children’s ministries, to eventually serving as a board member at that church.
Even though I retired from my work career a few years ago, I have not retired from serving, and I’m honored to serve on the staff of Focus Church.
