Day 7 – The Israelites facing Goliath

Many of us have read the story of David and Goliath and are in awe of how such a small boy could defeat a giant with just a few pebbles and a sling. It’s easy to wonder how the Israelites could be so afraid of a giant like Goliath when David took him down with one shot.
But more often than not, we stare at the giants in our own lives, whether it is a broken relationship, financial burden, depression, or anxiety, and we cower in fear like the Israelites. We want to be like David and face those giants.
But what if I told you that you could BE the giant? God promises to carry the Israelites, and he makes that same promise to us. To carry us like we carry our children on our shoulders. Like a father, he wants to lift you up so that you may see the world from up there. On God’s shoulders, you are the giant.
It is your Goliath, your depression, your anxiety, your worry, your anger, your hopelessness that needs to fear Him!
