Day 9

Read It:
Acts 2:2

Live It:

For most people living in Jerusalem 2000 years ago, it probably started out like a normal day. But there were 120 followers of Jesus, both Jew and Gentile, waiting in an upper room for the promise of the Holy Spirit. As they waited and wondered, “Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:2

This is the windstorm that changed the 120 who changed the world. This dramatic event signified the birth of Christ’s church and the way Jews and Gentiles could be brought together as one body around Jesus Christ. It is referred to as a “mystery” in Ephesians 3:6 because it is a spiritual insight from God unknown to previous generations. The Old Testament foretold the salvation of Gentiles and now the method (the death, resurrection and faith in Christ) is made clear.

By faith, we Gentiles together with the Jews are joint heirs of eternal lfe and receive the same inheritance in Christ Jesus. We are still feeling the effects today of that roaring mighty windstorm that ushered in the Holy Spirit to empower all Christians.
