Read it: Philippians 4:11-13
Live it: Paul was in prison. Prisons then were not like prisons today. Prisoners had to support themselves by providing their own food and living supplies. The Philippian church had provided for Paul, apparently by sending a generous offering.
In today’s passage, Paul thanks the Philippians for their generosity, and in doing so, he leaves us with a great teaching on contentment. This passage is worth spending some time pondering the ramifications of contentment. Notice that Paul’s statement about being able to do everything through Christ is in the context of contentment.
Question to ponder: In the context of being content, have I been thankful for people’s generosity toward me?
