Binge the Bible Ecclesiastes

According to Jewish tradition, Solomon wrote Song of Songs during his younger years, Proverbs in his middle years and Ecclesiastes during the last year of his life. By this time, Solomon‘s spiritual decline and life of self intelligence left him disillusioned with life. He had discovered that pleasure and materialism were unable to bring happiness.

Perhaps his teaching was particularly aimed at young people in the hope that they would not make the same mistakes he had. Repeatedly, Solomon emphasizes the complete senselessness of basing life’s values on earthly possessions and personal ambition. He suggests it is more important to be committed to God, to honor him, to keep his commandments and to fulfill his purpose for our lives.
